A charity drive is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign aims to provide aid to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian artistic heritage.
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely disheartened if it fails to, Christmas singles are a thing unto themselves.”
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.
“It occupies a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”
The single was laid down after a large-scale benefit event held in late summer. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the piece was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.
The diverse array of musicians contributing to Lullaby features a selection of prominent voices from the music world. All took part in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a considerable total for charitable causes.
Lullaby was brought to life by a group of music creators. The track showcases a combination of the heritage language with freshly written English words.
The group managing the initiative have emphasized that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These resources will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“We haven't set a specific target,” a representative said. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The reality in the area was noted for its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of buildings described as levelled or seriously harmed.
“Given that reality, a few million doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is primarily making this cause better known and showing that another narrative exists.”
The track is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
