Within the intensely competitive arena of gaming, it's typical for fresh competitors to disappear as rapidly as they enter the landscape.
However this new installment is aiming to shift that dynamic.
It's the newest release in a long-standing combat FPS series often described as a grittier alternative to its main competitor.
This game has not quite been able to rival its top competitor in terms of sales or gamers, but indicators suggest the new installment could narrow the difference.
An early access weekend enabling users a opportunity to try out the game in recent months achieved milestones, and the excitement heading into its launch has been huge.
However the endeavor is still a significant gamble for developer its creators, which has reportedly allocated huge sums of money developing it.
Our team has talked to several the creators to learn how they hope it will pay off.
Four teams are developing the title under the Battlefield Studios banner.
Among them are long-time developer the Swedish studio, based in Sweden, California's Motive developers and the Canadian studio in the Great White North.

A key leader is the general manager of the two EU-based teams, and tells us that, in terms of what it's offering players, "the latest installment is likely unbeatable."
The new release follows the release of the futuristic the last installment, launched four years ago to a unfavorable feedback it struggled to bounce back from.
"We probably would find it impossible to create and produce the latest entry lacking the learnings we had in the last release," she explains to us.
A key those lessons was to get the community engaged soon, and the studio launched invite-only player trials in recent months.
Their "response was extremely positive," comments she.
A further absent component from the last game was a story mode, which has been reintroduced in this version.
Criterion creative lead Fasahat "Fas" Salim is the individual responsible for "ensuring those levels are as fun and engaging as feasible for the audience."
In spite of allegations that the scale of the title had created pressure for the different developers working together internationally to develop the game, the director is upbeat about the endeavor.
"Collaborating with different perspectives, varied experiences, it's a really engaging atmosphere to be engaged with on a regular basis," he explains.
"This whole strategy has been an innovation but something truly inspiring because we are working with people from around the globe."
Regarding the expectation on the crew, the director states: "There is demand but at the same time it's thrilling.
"We're dealing with a large venture. It's likely the most significant that most of us have ever participated in."
