Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's expected for questions to be raised about his position following a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 games, representing the team's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got significant support from management,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory of course but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “In the normal discussions I sense the trust. But I've not talked to them after this match so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over familiar weaknesses from his team in their Champions League loss, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

Jones finished, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, show everyone again what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”
