Former Doctor Charged with Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities report that a former doctor stands accused of committing assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

The Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

A senior CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

The charges follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Offences

Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
