Democratic lawmakers have made public a fresh batch of what they labeled "disturbing" images from the property of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, featuring among others Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and former British royal Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The first release of 19 images—some of which have been seen before—along with another 70 unveiled later on Friday account for a small number of the approximately 100,000 images provided to the House investigative panel, which is probing the behavior and associations of Epstein.
The shamed investor died by apparent suicide in a New York jail cell in 2019 after being accused of sex-trafficking charges.
Featured among the prominent personalities seen in the first release are celebrities including film director Woody Allen; Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates; and Richard Branson, creator of the Virgin business group.
Donald Trump is featured in three of the initial 19 images. In one, he is seen with six women, whose faces are obscured.
The White House reacted to the release in a official comment, accusing Democrats of purposefully "cherry-picking" the pictures for partisan aims and to "seek to establish a false narrative."
"This Democratic fabrication against President Trump has been consistently disproven," a presidential representative stated, asserting that "this presidency has achieved more for Epstein's survivors than Democrats have ever done by frequently urging disclosure, disclosing reams of records, and demanding further investigations into Epstein's Democratic associates."
The photos were disclosed without context, but according to a Democratic representative from California and senior member of the oversight committee, they elicit additional doubts about Epstein's links with the rich and powerful.
"The moment has come to end this White House obfuscation and deliver justice to the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and his powerful friends," he stated in a comment.
The release of these materials comes as the oversight committee continuing its probe into the affair.
